Arirang (formerly Takamatsu in Chandler) is the only place I know in Arizona that has a grill embedded into the table. It’s also the only place I’ve been to where they give you a traditional lettuce wrap. When you grill your meat, you can put your meat with a little bit of miso, garlic and jalapeno and eat it like a ball.
I’ve mentioned before that some people do bulgogi wrong as it’s either too moist or too dry. With a grill, you can control the temperature. Overall, the bulgogi was about the same as I’ve had it elsewhere.
Thinnish slices of pork belly where you can put on the grill and cook to a crisp. I like my pork belly very crispy and caramelized but you can be the judge on what to put on there.
I’m not a fan of sushi in Korean restaurants because the only reason why restaurants put it here is to drive sales to please the average consumer. The sushi’s not bad here, but it really is nothing special.
8 small plates are presented to you. I found the bright green vegetables well cooked and brightly colored and I found the stuff covered in chili sauce pretty good. The potatoes were lackluster compared to other institutions I’ve ate at.
A very sweet tea of a plum-like fragrance is presented at the end of the meal. Its cold but very refreshing.
Arirang is a pretty big place with a lot of cool stuff. Their grill in the center of each table makes it very enjoyable to be there. There’s just something about a center grill embedded into the table that makes the experience ten times more authentic.
No one was really there because we went early so service was lightning fast. I guess it’s nice when the chef doesn’t really have to cook the meat.
About $25 dollars a meal. It’s pretty pricey but can be worth the money in a large group. The killer is that the restaurant charges per plate so it can add up if you want more meat. Unfortunately, I only went with one other person and I wished I had like 6 people so I could enjoy buying a collection of meat and grilling it.
Arirang has a selection of meat, sushi and other Korean dishes. If you went here, take advantage of the experience that has to do with the center grill. Buy that raw meat and cook it on the grill. It’s worth it.
This place is the only place I know that has a grill embedded in the table. I highly recommend this place I you want the on-site grill experience.
